Infosys share price came under pressure during Tuesday’s trading session, with the stock touching a six-year low of ₹980.40 on the NSE before staging a recovery.
The stock eventually settled at ₹1,015.40, gaining 1.2% for the session. From its intraday low, Infosys recovered around 3.57% before the close.
Despite the rebound, the broader technical structure remained under pressure. Infosys was the only stock among the Nifty IT constituents to finish the session in positive territory, while the Nifty IT index declined 1.5%. Shares of LTIMindtree and Mphasis fell by as much as 4%.
The sharp intraday recovery has raised questions about whether the stock could see further stabilisation or whether the longer-term downtrend remains intact.

Mayank Jain, market analyst at Share.Market by PhonePe, said the daily chart continues to show a clear downtrend, characterised by a sequence of lower highs and lower lows.
According to Jain, the 20-day, 50-day and 200-day moving averages are all trending downward. This technical setup indicates that the stock remains under pressure across short-, medium- and long-term time frames.
Jain also said the short-term moving average is acting as dynamic resistance, making it difficult for the stock to sustain recovery attempts.
The immediate area attracting attention is the ₹980-1,000 zone, which Jain described as a critical demand area.
Can Infosys rebound toward ₹1,100-1,150?
The recovery from ₹980.40 could indicate some buying interest around the lower levels, although it does not by itself establish a reversal of the broader trend.

Add INDYASTORY on GoogleJain said that at around ₹1,015.40, Infosys could potentially see a period of price stabilisation or a short-term relief bounce toward the ₹1,100-1,150 range if buyers continue to defend the historical support zone.
However, such a move would remain a technical recovery rather than confirmation of a new long-term uptrend.
The analyst highlighted ₹980 as an important level to monitor.

Add INDYASTORY on GoogleA decisive close below ₹980 accompanied by strong trading volume, according to Jain, could increase the possibility of further weakness.
₹1,180-1,200 remains a major resistance zone
On the upside, Infosys faces a significant resistance area around ₹1,180-1,200.
Jain said this zone corresponds to the previous breakdown area and could bring renewed selling pressure if the stock attempts a sustained recovery.
He added that a broader shift toward a bullish technical structure would require the stock to reclaim the ₹1,200 region and move above its long-term 200-day moving average.
Therefore, the technical setup currently contains two important zones:
- ₹980-1,000: Key support/demand area
- ₹1,100-1,150: Potential short-term recovery zone cited by the analyst
- ₹1,180-1,200: Major resistance area
- Below ₹980: Risk of additional downside, according to the cited technical view
These levels are analyst estimates based on chart patterns and can change as the stock price develops.
Fundamental concerns also remain
The weakness in Infosys shares is not being viewed purely through technical charts.
Prasenjit Paul, fund manager at 129 Wealth & Research and analyst at Paul Asset, pointed to the company’s continued investment in artificial intelligence, talent and technology platforms.
Paul said Infosys’ first-quarter FY27 margin remained healthy at 21.1%, but the ongoing investments could put pressure on near-term growth and margin expansion.
He characterised the company’s fundamental outlook as challenging and said the technical structure was also weak.
The comments highlight a key issue for investors: increased spending on emerging technologies can require significant investment before the benefits appear in revenue growth or margins.
Infosys vs Nifty IT
The stock’s performance also stood out within the IT sector.
While the Nifty IT index declined 1.5%, Infosys managed to finish the session higher after its sharp intraday recovery.
By comparison, LTIMindtree and Mphasis declined by up to 4%.
The divergence suggests that there was some stock-specific buying interest in Infosys at lower levels, even as the broader IT sector remained under pressure.
However, one session of relative outperformance does not establish a sustained change in the stock’s trend.
What traders should watch next
For short-term market participants, the ₹980-1,000 zone remains a key area to monitor based on the technical analysis cited above.
Holding this zone could allow the stock to attempt a recovery toward ₹1,100-1,150. A move toward the ₹1,180-1,200 region would bring a much stronger resistance zone into focus.
On the other hand, a decisive close below ₹980 with high volume would weaken the technical setup further, according to Jain.
For a larger trend change, the analyst has identified the ₹1,200 region and the 200-day moving average as important confirmation levels.
Infosys share price outlook
Infosys’ recovery from its six-year low provides some evidence of buying interest around ₹980-1,000, but the stock continues to trade within a broader downward technical structure.
The combination of declining moving averages, resistance at higher levels and concerns about near-term growth and margin expansion means investors are likely to closely watch both price action and the company’s operating performance.
For now, the key technical levels cited by analysts are ₹980-1,000 on the downside and ₹1,180-1,200 on the upside, while a sustained move above the latter zone would be required to materially change the technical structure described in the source analysis.
