Actor Mrunal Thakur has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding her connection with actor Dhanush, clarifying that his attendance at the Son of Sardaar 2 screening was at her personal request — not a sign of a romantic relationship.
The appearance sparked widespread rumours last year after Dhanush attended the premiere, leading social media users to speculate about a possible relationship and even unfounded claims of a potential Valentine’s Day wedding.

While promoting her film Do Deewane Seher Mein, Mrunal spoke about the viral moment during an interview with Mirchi Plus.
She expressed admiration for Dhanush’s body of work, citing performances in films like Raayan, Maari, Raanjhanaa, Captain Miller, and particularly praising Asuran, which she described as a film she could watch repeatedly.
Calling him an “institution,” she highlighted his ability to deliver powerful performances and inspire fellow actors.
Addressing the screening incident, she explained that while they were shooting for Tere Ishk Mein, she casually asked Dhanush if he would attend the Son of Sardaar 2 premiere.
“I didn’t know he would come. He just came, and I was so happy,” she said, describing the gesture as thoughtful and supportive rather than personal.
She also expressed hope to collaborate professionally with him in the future.
