A shocking murder investigation in Jaipur has taken a dramatic turn after police alleged that a 45-year-old government employee was deliberately killed in a conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by her own daughter and several relatives.
The victim, identified as Neeraj Sharma, died on July 4 after being struck by a speeding Scorpio SUV in Jaipur’s Pratap Nagar area. The incident was initially believed to be a road accident. However, investigators now claim the collision was a carefully planned murder disguised as an accident.
According to Jaipur East Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ranjita Sharma, seven people have been arrested in connection with the case, including the victim’s 23-year-old daughter, Ayushi.
Accident Investigation Uncovers Alleged Conspiracy
Police said the case took a different direction after investigators examined evidence and questioned individuals linked to the victim and the incident.
Authorities now allege that the accused hired five contract killers and paid them approximately ₹7 lakh to carry out the murder. Investigators claim the suspects tracked Neeraj Sharma’s daily movements and routine for nearly two months before executing the attack.
Police further alleged that an earlier attempt to kill the victim had been made using another vehicle, but the plan was unsuccessful.
The July 4 incident, investigators say, was the second and ultimately fatal attempt.
Government Job Believed to Be Key Motive
According to police, one of the primary motives being investigated is linked to compassionate government employment.
Neeraj Sharma was employed in a government position that she had reportedly received following the death of her husband, who was also a government employee. Under compassionate appointment provisions, eligible family members may be considered for government employment after the death of an employee.
Investigators allege that Ayushi wanted to obtain the government job and planned her mother’s murder to create an opportunity for herself to secure the position.
Police are continuing to examine documents, communications, and financial transactions connected to the case as part of the ongoing investigation.
Property Dispute Angle Also Under Probe
Authorities are also investigating whether family property disputes played a role in the alleged conspiracy.
Police said the victim’s brother-in-law and other relatives may have been involved in planning the crime. Among those arrested is the victim’s brother-in-law, while his son, identified as Balram, remains absconding.
Search operations are underway to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Investigators believe a clearer picture of the motive will emerge as additional evidence is gathered and further questioning takes place.
Seven Arrested, Investigation Continues
The arrests mark a major breakthrough in a case that initially appeared to be a tragic traffic accident.
Police said each suspect’s role is being examined individually to determine the extent of their alleged involvement in the planning, financing, and execution of the crime.
Authorities have not ruled out additional arrests as the investigation progresses.
The case has drawn widespread attention across Rajasthan because of the serious allegations involving close family members and the alleged motive connected to government employment benefits.
Legal Proceedings Ahead
The accused will face legal proceedings based on evidence collected during the investigation. Police officials have emphasized that the inquiry remains ongoing and that all allegations will ultimately be subject to judicial scrutiny in court.
Investigators are continuing efforts to locate the absconding suspect and establish the complete sequence of events that led to Neeraj Sharma’s death.
The case remains under active investigation.
