The investigation into the death of Ketan Agarwal has taken a new turn after authorities began examining an alleged Snapchat conversation reportedly linked to accused Siya Goyal. The development comes as investigators continue to analyze digital evidence, including deleted mobile data and coded communications allegedly exchanged between Siya and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary.
Both accused have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days after a local court declined a police request seeking an extension of custody for further interrogation.
Police Probe Coded Conversations
According to investigators, recovered mobile data suggests that Siya Goyal and Chetan Chaudhary allegedly communicated using coded language, sign-based references, and nicknames. Police believe these methods may have been used to conceal the nature of their conversations and avoid scrutiny.
Investigating officer Manoj Pawar informed the court that authorities were attempting to decode the meaning of these exchanges and determine their relevance to the alleged murder conspiracy.
Police had argued that face-to-face questioning of both accused was necessary to understand the context of the communications and establish a clearer timeline of events. However, the court declined the request for additional custody.
Alleged Snapchat Message Under Examination
A purported Snapchat conversation has emerged as another focus of the investigation.
According to sources familiar with the probe, the message allegedly shows Siya asking a friend to share an Aadhaar card copy for booking a flight ticket. The conversation reportedly included a reference to a wedding that “is never going to happen.”
Investigators are examining whether the alleged message has any connection to the events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death. Officials are also assessing whether any travel-related arrangements were intended to create an appearance that wedding preparations were continuing as planned.
Authorities have not officially verified the authenticity of the alleged Snapchat chat. Police say the message remains part of an ongoing investigation, and its evidentiary value has yet to be established.
Court Rejects Narco Test Request
The issue of conducting narco analysis also surfaced during court proceedings.
The court clarified that such tests cannot be carried out without the consent of the accused. Since neither Siya Goyal nor Chetan Chaudhary agreed to undergo the procedure, permission was denied.
The prosecution also informed the court that a narco test was not considered necessary at the present stage of the investigation.
Investigation Into Ketan Agarwal’s Death
The case stems from the death of Ketan Agarwal, who died after falling from a cliff near Lohagad Fort.
According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by his father, Vishal Devichand Agarwal, both accused allegedly pushed Ketan from the cliff. The complaint states that Ketan left home on June 18 and picked up Siya before travelling toward the fort.
The FIR further states that Siya later informed Ketan’s family that he had accidentally fallen into a gorge. He was subsequently located by local residents and police personnel and transported to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Family Raises Questions
Ketan’s family later visited the site and questioned whether the location was consistent with an accidental fall. According to the FIR, family members concluded that an accidental slip appeared unlikely based on the terrain and circumstances surrounding the incident.
The complaint also alleges that Siya frequently referred to Chetan as a close friend and that family members suspected a romantic relationship between the two.
Investigation Continues
Police are continuing to review mobile records, digital communications, witness statements, and forensic evidence as they work to establish the sequence of events leading up to Ketan Agarwal’s death.
Officials have emphasized that the authenticity of the alleged Snapchat conversation and the significance of the recovered digital evidence will be determined through the ongoing investigation and judicial process.
The case remains under investigation, and no final conclusions have been reached by authorities.
