One of South Korea’s most well-known celebrity couples, Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and actor Jung Kyung-ho, have reportedly ended their relationship after 14 years together.
The news, confirmed by their respective agencies, marks the end of one of the longest-running relationships in the Korean entertainment industry.
Agencies confirm the split
According to local reports, the couple had recently decided to part ways after facing prolonged periods of distance due to their demanding schedules.
Sooyoung’s agency, SARAM Entertainment, confirmed the breakup, stating that while the relationship has ended, both individuals will continue to maintain professional respect in the industry.
Jung Kyung-ho’s agency, Management Allum, also acknowledged the split but refrained from sharing additional details, citing privacy concerns.
Busy schedules reportedly led to distance
Industry sources suggest that conflicting work commitments played a significant role in the separation. Jung Kyung-ho has remained active with multiple acting projects, while Sooyoung has been balancing activities between Korea and Japan.
Over time, limited interaction reportedly created distance between the two, eventually leading to their mutual decision to end the relationship.
From private dating to public couple
Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho were first linked in 2012 and publicly confirmed their relationship in 2014. Since then, they were widely regarded as one of K-entertainment’s most stable and admired couples.
Despite their high-profile careers, both stars occasionally spoke fondly of each other in interviews, earning praise from fans for maintaining a long-term, low-drama relationship.
Their bond was often seen as one of the strongest in the industry, with fans frequently speculating about a possible marriage announcement in the future.

Instagram unfollow sparks fan reactions
Following breakup reports, fans noticed that the pair had reportedly unfollowed each other on Instagram, adding further attention to the news.
Online users also revisited Jung Kyung-ho’s recent Instagram activity, which included a post featuring the couple’s dog, Hoyoung—a pet whose name is derived from a combination of “Ho” and “Young,” symbolising their relationship.
The timing of the post, shared shortly before breakup reports surfaced, led to widespread speculation among fans. Some interpreted it as a subtle emotional gesture, while others viewed it as unrelated and coincidental.
A relationship that defined an era
Over the years, Sooyoung and Jung Kyung-ho’s relationship became one of the most respected celebrity romances in Korea. Their ability to maintain privacy while occasionally acknowledging each other publicly earned them strong support from fans.
Their breakup now marks the end of a relationship that had lasted more than a decade and had become symbolic of stability in the often fast-changing entertainment industry.
