The investigation into the murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agrawal has expanded into the digital realm, with police closely examining online searches, chat records, and mobile phone data recovered from the accused.
According to sources familiar with the investigation, authorities are analyzing the browsing history found on a mobile phone allegedly used by prime accused Siya Goyal. Investigators believe the recovered digital evidence could help establish timelines, behavioural patterns, and possible planning related to the case.
While officials have not drawn any conclusions from the online activity, they consider the material an important part of the broader investigation.
Investigators Review Searches Related to Another High-Profile Murder Case
Sources said police discovered internet searches linked to the widely discussed Meghalaya honeymoon murder case involving Sonam Raghuvanshi, who has been accused of conspiring to kill her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi.
According to investigators, some of the search queries allegedly recovered from the device included:
- “What questions were asked to Sonam Raghuvanshi?”
- “How did Sonam Raghuvanshi get bail from the high court?”
Police are reportedly examining the context and timing of these searches as part of their effort to reconstruct events leading up to Ketan Agrawal’s death.
Officials have not publicly suggested any direct connection between the two cases. However, they are reviewing the searches as part of the accused’s overall digital activity.
Alleged Secret Marriage Under Investigation
The digital evidence has emerged alongside another key aspect of the investigation.
Pune Rural Police are reportedly verifying claims that Siya Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary may have secretly married before Agrawal’s death.
According to information cited by investigators, conversations recovered from messaging platforms allegedly indicate the possibility of a private marriage ceremony between the two accused.
Police officials have stated that they are currently verifying whether such a marriage took place and, if so, whether it was legally registered.
Investigators are reviewing:
- Mobile phone records
- WhatsApp conversations
- Social media activity
- Digital communications
- Location and device data
Authorities believe these materials could help establish the nature of the relationship between the accused and clarify the sequence of events before the alleged crime.
Alleged Conspiracy Behind Ketan Agrawal’s Death
According to police, Siya Goyal, 20, and Chetan Chaudhary, 22, allegedly conspired to kill 25-year-old realtor Ketan Agrawal.
Investigators claim Agrawal had become an obstacle in the relationship between the two accused.
Police allege that the pair carefully planned the crime and rehearsed aspects of the attack before Agrawal was allegedly pushed from a cliff at Lohagad Fort in Pune district on June 18.
Both accused have been arrested and remain at the center of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities are continuing to gather evidence and examine witness statements, digital records, and forensic findings.
Sonam Raghuvanshi Case Draws Renewed Attention
The online searches reportedly discovered on Goyal’s phone have attracted attention because they reference the Meghalaya case involving Sonam Raghuvanshi.
Sonam, an Indore resident, was arrested after investigators alleged she conspired with hired assailants to kill her husband, Raja Raghuvanshi, during their honeymoon in Meghalaya in 2025.
The case gained national attention after the couple disappeared while traveling in the Sohra region. Raja’s body was later recovered from a gorge, prompting a major investigation.
Recently, legal proceedings in that matter returned to the spotlight after the Supreme Court declined to stay a Meghalaya High Court order granting bail to Sonam Raghuvanshi.
A bench comprising Justice M. M. Sundresh and Justice Sheel Nagu expressed reservations regarding certain aspects of the High Court’s order but noted that Sonam had already been released and was complying with the conditions of bail.
The Meghalaya High Court subsequently upheld the trial court’s decision to grant bail, rejecting a plea seeking cancellation of that relief.
Investigation Continues
Pune Police have emphasized that the investigation into Ketan Agrawal’s death remains active and that all digital evidence is being assessed alongside forensic and witness-based findings.
Officials say the examination of search histories, communications, and device records is intended to help establish a comprehensive understanding of the events surrounding the alleged conspiracy.
Further findings are expected as investigators continue analyzing electronic evidence and verifying claims connected to the case.
As legal proceedings move forward, all allegations remain subject to judicial review, and the accused are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
