Swagatha S Krishnan, a Tamil playback singer known for popular songs such as Yeno Pennae and Kadhal Kanmani, has made serious allegations against a music director, claiming she was subjected to abuse and intimidation that forced her to step away from the Tamil music industry for a period.
The singer has stated that the incident led her to leave Chennai and relocate to Rishikesh, as she struggled to cope with the emotional impact of the experience.
In a recent interview on YouTube channel Sivasankari Talks, Swagatha S Krishnan alleged that the incident was not isolated and suggested that similar patterns of behavior may have affected other women as well. While she did not disclose the identity of the individual, she strongly indicated that she intends to pursue legal action.
She also referred to the accused as the “Epstein of Madras” during the conversation, a statement that has triggered widespread discussion online.
Swagatha S Krishnan described the alleged incident as taking place inside the music director’s studio, which she initially believed to be a safe professional environment. According to her, the studio was soundproof, locked, and equipped with CCTV surveillance, including what she described as hidden cameras. She further alleged that the environment was used in a way that left her isolated during the incident.
She also claimed that she was later threatened using recorded material, which added to her fear and distress.
The singer further alleged that the individual initially built trust by acting as a mentor before gradually creating emotional and financial dependency. She claimed that money was borrowed and not returned on time, which contributed to a controlling dynamic.
Swagatha S Krishnan also stated that she later received messages from other women who described similar experiences. She further alleged that secret recording of individuals, including visitors to the studio, was a repeated concern.
Speaking about the aftermath, she said she faced emotional distress, isolation, and professional setbacks. She also alleged that she was falsely accused and subjected to negative narratives within industry circles, which worsened her situation.
She added that she relied on therapy and family support during this period and said the experience had a long-lasting emotional impact on her well-being.
Swagatha S Krishnan also revealed that she had consulted legal professionals earlier but did not proceed with a formal complaint at the time due to fear and lack of support. However, she now states that she is determined to move forward legally to ensure accountability and prevent similar incidents in the future.
