Superstar Rajinikanth, at 75, continues to maintain an active professional life while preparing for his upcoming film ‘Jailer 2’. His energy and physical presence have once again drawn attention after a doctor discussed the eating habits and lifestyle choices reportedly associated with the actor.
In an Instagram video shared on August 19, Dr Preethi Mrinalini, a consultant laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon associated with Apollo Hospitals in Chennai, spoke about Rajinikanth’s reported approach to food, exercise and overall wellbeing.
The discussion focused on what the doctor described as Rajinikanth’s avoidance of certain “white” foods, along with the role of physical activity and meditation in maintaining an active lifestyle.
What is Rajinikanth’s ‘5 whites’ diet?
According to Dr Preethi Mrinalini, Rajinikanth has spoken about avoiding several foods and ingredients commonly described as “white foods”.
In her Instagram caption, she wrote that Rajinikanth stays fit by avoiding “5 whites” — salt, sugar, maida, milk and curd — and linked his reported dietary pattern with clean eating, workouts and meditation.
The doctor said excessive consumption of some of these foods can contribute to issues such as higher calorie intake, blood-sugar fluctuations and digestive discomfort. However, the effects of individual foods can vary depending on a person’s overall diet, health status and quantity consumed.
Rajinikanth has spoken about his food choices
The discussion also referred to an earlier occasion when Rajinikanth spoke about his dietary choices.
During the event referenced in the video, the superstar reportedly said:
“I avoid these white food items: Sugar, salt, rice, maida (refined flour), milk, curd, butter, tablets.”
His comments have attracted renewed attention because of his ability to remain professionally active and perform demanding roles even in his seventies.
What did the doctor say about sugar and maida?
Dr Preethi Mrinalini particularly discussed refined sugar and refined flour.
Speaking about processed sugar, she said that excessive intake can contribute to increased calorie consumption and may be associated with weight gain, insulin resistance and stronger cravings.
She also discussed maida, or refined wheat flour, describing it as nutritionally less beneficial than whole-grain alternatives because much of the grain’s fibre and other components are removed during refining.
Her comments about rice were more measured. She noted that white rice can still be included in a balanced meal when consumed in an appropriate quantity and combined with vegetables and other nutritious foods.
This distinction is important because individual foods do not automatically determine whether a diet is healthy. Portion size, overall dietary pattern, physical activity and individual nutritional needs all play a role.
What about milk and curd?
The doctor also discussed dairy products while addressing Rajinikanth’s reported dietary choices.
Milk and curd can provide nutrients including protein and calcium, but tolerance and dietary requirements differ from person to person. Some people may experience bloating or digestive discomfort after consuming certain dairy products.
Rather than treating dairy as universally unhealthy, dietary choices generally need to be considered in the context of an individual’s age, health, nutritional requirements and overall eating pattern.
Rajinikanth’s fitness routine draws attention
Diet is only one part of the lifestyle being discussed in connection with Rajinikanth.
The doctor highlighted regular workouts and meditation alongside clean eating. The actor’s continued screen appearances and physically demanding roles have made his fitness a recurring subject among fans.
Reports about his food habits have also described a preference for home-cooked meals, fresh ingredients, protein-rich foods and whole grains, while limiting highly processed foods, excess sugar and excessive amounts of unhealthy fats.
However, details of a celebrity’s private daily routine can change, and not every reported dietary practice should be treated as a universal fitness prescription.
Rajinikanth is preparing for ‘Jailer 2’
Rajinikanth is currently gearing up for ‘Jailer 2’, his next major release. The film reunites him with director Nelson Dilipkumar, who directed the 2023 blockbuster ‘Jailer’.
Rajinikanth is returning as Muthuvel Pandian in the sequel. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 15.
The makers have also announced the arrival of the movie’s first single. The song is scheduled to be released on August 21, with the team announcing the update alongside a new poster featuring Rajinikanth.
“The Feast is ready! Jailer 2 First Single releasing on August 21,” the makers announced on social media.
With ‘Jailer 2’ approaching, Rajinikanth’s fitness has once again become part of the conversation around the superstar. At 75, his continued screen presence remains one of the defining aspects of his enduring career.
