After a gap of nearly three years, Akhil Akkineni is preparing for his return to the big screen with Lenin, one of the most anticipated Telugu releases of the season. Ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on July 10, the makers held a grand pre-release event in Tirupati, where veteran actor Nagarjuna Akkineni expressed unwavering confidence in both the film and his son’s performance.
Produced by Nagarjuna under the Manam Enterprises LLP banner in association with Naga Vamsi’s Sithara Entertainments, Lenin is directed by Murali Kishor Abburu and features Bhagyashri Borse as the female lead.
Nagarjuna Reveals His Emotional Connection to the Story
Addressing fans and media at the event, Nagarjuna shared how the project first caught his attention.
According to the actor, director Murali Kishor Abburu and writer Nandu initially narrated a story set in Srirampuram, a village that holds special significance for the Akkineni family.
“When they told me the story was set in Srirampuram, I immediately felt connected. My father, Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu, was born there. That sentiment made me want to hear the story in detail,” Nagarjuna said.
The actor revealed that the screenplay’s unpredictability and layered storytelling impressed him from the beginning.
“There are several twists, interesting characters, and different layers throughout the film. What I liked most is that the audience will find it difficult to predict where the story is heading,” he added.
‘A Complete Entertainer Driven by Love’
Nagarjuna described Lenin as a film that combines emotion, action, drama, and romance.
Calling love the central force behind the story, he highlighted the emotional core that drives the narrative.
“Love is the greatest emotion. Throughout history, kingdoms have been lost and wars have been fought because of love. This film is also driven by that powerful emotion,” he said.
His comments suggest that while Lenin may feature action and commercial elements, relationships and emotions remain at the heart of the story.
Praise for Bhagyashri Borse and Supporting Cast
Nagarjuna also spoke highly of leading lady Bhagyashri Borse, who plays Bharathi in the film.
According to him, the character plays a crucial role in the narrative and serves as an emotional anchor.
“Bhagyashri has performed wonderfully. Bharathi is the heartbeat of Lenin, and audiences will connect strongly with her character,” he said.
The veteran actor further appreciated the contributions of senior actors Sivaji and Brahmaji.
Speaking about Sivaji, Nagarjuna recalled their long association and praised his performance in the film.
“I have known Sivaji for many years. He is a product of Annapurna Studios, and I also interacted with him during Bigg Boss. I am happy he is part of this project and has done an excellent job,” he said.
Nagarjuna also reminisced about his long-standing friendship with Brahmaji, noting that their professional journey dates back to the iconic film Shiva.
‘Akhil Has Completely Become Lenin’
The most emotional moment of Nagarjuna’s speech came when he discussed Akhil’s dedication to the role.
The actor-producer stated that his son had fully immersed himself in the character and undergone a complete transformation for the film.
“You won’t see Akhil on the screen; you will only see Lenin. He has completely lived the role,” Nagarjuna told the audience.
He further added that viewers would connect deeply with the character’s journey.
“You will love Lenin’s friendship, his love, and his revenge. By the end of the film, Lenin will stay with you, and you will carry that character home in your hearts.”
The statement reflects the family’s belief that Lenin could mark a significant turning point in Akhil’s career.
Nagarjuna Credits Naga Vamsi’s Confidence
Nagarjuna also reserved special praise for producer and distributor Naga Vamsi, who has become one of Telugu cinema’s most influential young producers.
He credited Vamsi’s understanding of audience preferences and his faith in the project.
“People affectionately call him ‘Chintu Anna.’ He understands the pulse of the mass audience extremely well. He stood by me and Akhil throughout this journey,” Nagarjuna said.
According to him, Vamsi’s confidence in the film is so strong that he has personally taken charge of distributing Lenin across Andhra Pradesh.
Can Lenin Deliver Akhil’s Much-Needed Breakthrough?
For Akhil Akkineni, Lenin arrives at a crucial stage in his career. Expectations are high, and industry observers will be closely watching how audiences respond to the film when it releases worldwide on July 10.
With a blend of action, romance, emotional drama, and what the makers describe as an unpredictable storyline, Lenin aims to appeal to a broad audience.
Judging by Nagarjuna’s confidence, the Akkineni family believes the film has the potential to become both a commercial success and an important milestone in Akhil’s journey as a leading actor.
Whether Lenin becomes the breakthrough hit many fans are hoping for will soon be decided at the box office, but anticipation surrounding the film continues to grow as release day approaches.
