Gurugram-based professional Himanshu Jangra, who recently found himself at the centre of a social media storm following his appearance on comedian Pranit More’s stand-up show, has said he now regrets participating in the event. The controversy erupted after a clip from the performance went viral, leading to severe online backlash and his subsequent dismissal from his job at a Gurugram-based design firm.
Jangra Breaks Silence on Fallout
In a video shared by his former employer, Starvik Design, founder Vivek Vishwakarma is seen speaking to Jangra after the incident. During the interaction, Jangra opened up about the emotional and professional impact of the controversy.
He said the situation escalated only after his family learned about the viral clip and his job termination. According to him, the first few days passed without major concern, but things changed once the issue became widely known.
Jangra admitted that his parents were deeply affected after hearing about the loss of his job, leading to tension at home and regret over his participation in the show.
“I Regret Going to the Show” – Jangra
Expressing remorse, Jangra said he now wishes he had not attended the event, adding that the fallout has caused significant emotional stress within his family.
He acknowledged that his choice of words during the performance was inappropriate and apologised for the impact of his statements, clarifying that his intent was not malicious.
Admits Story Was Improvised on Stage
One of the key revelations from his statement was the admission that the dating anecdote he shared during the stand-up show was not entirely factual.
Jangra explained that while he did have a dating experience, parts of the story were exaggerated or improvised for comedic effect, influenced by other participants who were also sharing dramatic personal anecdotes during the show.
He said the intention was to match the tone of the performance rather than present a literal account of events.
The Viral ₹370 Biryani Controversy
The controversy stems from a segment in which Jangra referenced a date and mentioned spending ₹370 on a chicken biryani, making remarks that were widely criticised online for being entitled and inappropriate.
The clip quickly circulated on social media, drawing sharp reactions from users and public figures, including Uorfi Javed, Kusha Kapila, and Dolly Singh, who condemned the tone of the comments.
Public Apology and Wider Response
Following the backlash, Jangra issued a public apology, stating that his comments were meant in an entertainment context but were poorly expressed.
Comedian Pranit More also addressed the controversy separately, describing the incident as a lapse in judgement and acknowledging that the moment had “got carried away” during the performance.
A Reminder of Viral Culture Consequences
The incident highlights the growing impact of viral content in digital entertainment spaces, where short clips can rapidly escalate into major controversies, affecting personal reputations and professional lives.
As discussions continue online, the episode has sparked broader conversations about accountability, comedy boundaries, and the real-world consequences of viral moments.
