Filmmaker Ameer Sultan has criticised actor-turned-politician Vijay for organising a Women’s Day celebration in Chennai, amid ongoing controversy surrounding the actor’s reported divorce.
In a message shared on his WhatsApp status, Ameer expressed anger over the event, suggesting it was inappropriate given the personal allegations currently circulating about the actor.
Divorce Petition Adds Fuel to Debate
The criticism comes days after reports emerged that Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam had filed for divorce.
According to reports, the petition cited irreconcilable differences, along with allegations of adultery and emotional strain in the marriage.
The filing reportedly claims that Sangeetha experienced emotional and mental distress during the relationship and that the couple had been living separately within the same home.
Viral Appearance With Trisha Sparks Speculation
Public discussion intensified after Vijay was recently seen attending a wedding reception alongside actor Trisha Krishnan.
The event was hosted for the son of film producer Kalpathi Suresh in Chennai, and images of the two actors in coordinated outfits quickly spread across social media, sparking further speculation.
Neither Vijay nor Trisha has publicly addressed the rumours.
