For more than two decades, Aditi Govitrikar has balanced multiple identities—doctor, actor, psychologist, wellness advocate, entrepreneur, mother and former Mrs World. While many recognize her from the glamour industry, Govitrikar says the foundation of her life was built long before the spotlight found her.

In a candid conversation, the former Mrs World winner reflected on personal growth, women’s health, ageing, beauty standards and the importance of self-reinvention. Her message is clear: success is not defined by a single title, but by the ability to evolve through every stage of life.

Why Being a Doctor Remains Her Strongest Identity

Despite her achievements in modelling, acting and pageantry, Govitrikar believes her medical background has had the greatest influence on her life.

According to her, medicine taught lessons that extended far beyond textbooks. It instilled discipline, empathy, resilience and a deeper understanding of human experiences.

She explained that while the entertainment industry gave her public recognition, her medical training helped her understand people beyond appearances and fame.

That perspective continues to influence her work as a psychologist, wellness expert and entrepreneur.

A Powerful Message on Ageing and Menopause

As conversations around women’s health become more prominent, Govitrikar believes misconceptions about ageing and menopause still persist.

She stresses that ageing should not be viewed as something to fear or fight against.

Instead, she describes it as a natural stage of life that can bring confidence, wisdom and personal empowerment.

Regarding menopause, she noted that many women continue to see it as the end of youth, whereas it can often become the beginning of a new and fulfilling phase.

Common Myths Women Need to Challenge

Govitrikar highlighted several areas where greater awareness is needed:

  • Prioritising preventive healthcare
  • Understanding hormonal changes
  • Addressing sleep disturbances
  • Managing stress effectively
  • Building strength through exercise
  • Seeking medical support when needed

She also emphasized that women should not normalize chronic fatigue, poor sleep, mood fluctuations or unexplained weight changes without exploring possible solutions.

The Importance of Preventive Healthcare

One of Govitrikar’s strongest messages revolves around preventive healthcare.

She believes many women spend years caring for others while postponing their own health needs.

Regular screenings, health check-ups, balanced nutrition and physical activity can significantly improve long-term well-being.

According to her, investing in preventive care can help women maintain better quality of life throughout different stages of ageing.

Social Media Beauty Standards: Progress and Challenges

The beauty industry has transformed dramatically since Govitrikar’s early modelling years.

She acknowledges that social media has made the industry more accessible and democratic, allowing talented individuals to build audiences without relying on traditional gatekeepers.

However, she also points to the challenges created by digitally altered images and unrealistic expectations.

Beauty Beyond Filters

Govitrikar believes excessive reliance on filters and image editing can create unhealthy comparisons and unrealistic standards.

At the same time, she welcomes the growing conversations around:

  • Diversity
  • Inclusivity
  • Body positivity
  • Representation across age groups
  • Authentic self-expression

For her, confidence and self-acceptance remain the most important aspects of beauty.

Speaking About Child Safety and Abuse Awareness

Govitrikar has previously spoken publicly about experiencing abuse from someone trusted by her family.

Reflecting on that experience, she stressed the importance of listening carefully to children and taking their concerns seriously.

She believes families often focus on potential dangers from strangers while overlooking risks that can exist within familiar environments.

Key Lessons for Parents

According to Govitrikar:

  • Children should feel safe speaking openly
  • Adults must pay attention to behavioral changes
  • Conversations about consent and boundaries should begin early
  • Signs of fear, anxiety or withdrawal should never be ignored

She emphasized that creating safe environments for communication is essential for protecting children.

Mrs World Victory and Changing Perceptions of Married Women

Govitrikar made history when she won the Mrs World title in 2001, becoming one of India’s most recognized married beauty pageant winners.

Looking back, she believes societal attitudes toward married women may have influenced how her achievement was received at the time.

Beauty pageants were traditionally associated with younger, unmarried contestants, making her victory something relatively new for audiences.

A Shift in Mindsets

Today, she sees significant progress.

Women are increasingly redefining success beyond traditional expectations, pursuing careers, entrepreneurship and personal goals at every stage of life.

Through initiatives such as Marvelous Mrs India World, Govitrikar says she has witnessed women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond embracing opportunities with confidence and purpose.

Life at 50: Wellness, Fitness and Self-Care

Now 50, Govitrikar approaches health with a focus on strength, energy and overall well-being rather than chasing youth.

She revealed that menopause brought several physical and emotional changes, including:

  • Fatigue
  • Sleep disruptions
  • Metabolism changes
  • Hormonal fluctuations

Understanding the biological reasons behind these changes helped her navigate the transition more effectively.

Her Daily Wellness Routine

Govitrikar’s routine includes:

Hydration

Starting the day with adequate water intake.

Regular Movement

Incorporating physical activity and mindful exercise.

Strength Training

A core part of her fitness regimen to maintain muscle mass and support healthy ageing.

Balanced Vegetarian Nutrition

Including protein-rich foods such as:

  • Tofu
  • Soy products
  • Paneer

She also focuses on fibre, healthy fats and nutrient-dense meals.

Quality Sleep

Prioritising at least seven hours of sleep, with eight hours being her preferred goal.

Addressing Ageism

Govitrikar acknowledges that age-related stereotypes still exist, particularly for women.

However, she views ageing as a symbol of experience, personal growth and resilience rather than a limitation.

She believes every stage of life brings valuable lessons and opportunities for self-discovery.

Today, she says she feels more comfortable and confident in her own skin than ever before.

A Story of Reinvention

What makes Aditi Govitrikar’s journey unique is her ability to continuously reinvent herself.

From doctor to beauty queen, actor, psychologist and wellness advocate, she has consistently challenged conventional expectations and demonstrated that personal growth does not have an expiration date.

Her story serves as a reminder that success can take many forms—and that embracing change is often one of life’s greatest strengths.
