The viral sensation "Mahakumbh ki Monalisa" has expressed frustration with the overwhelming attention she has received on the internet. In a recent video, she shared her feelings, saying, “Saare din bhar…” indicating that the constant spotlight and online discussions are becoming overwhelming. She seems to be irked by the excessive focus on her, perhaps due to the unwanted nature of such viral fame. The video captures her reaction to the attention, highlighting her discomfort with the situation.
Mahakumbh 2025, one of the largest religious gatherings in Prayagraj, has garnered significant attention for various personalities, including the IITian Baba and Kaante Wale Baba. However, a garland seller from Indore, Monalisa, has become an overnight sensation due to her looks.
Monalisa, a regular attendee of the Kumbh Mela, introduced herself in a viral video, capturing the internet's attention. In another popular video, she interacts with a lady from Japan, sharing their experiences at the Mahakumbh. Seen selling pearl neckpieces at the ghat, Monalisa became widely recognized for her unique way of speaking, amber eyes, dusky complexion, and sharp facial features. Over the past few days, visitors to Mahakumbh 2025 have flocked to meet her and take photographs.
However, the sudden limelight has become overwhelming for her. In a separate video, Monalisa expressed frustration about the constant attention, as people keep approaching her for photos throughout the day.
In one of the viral videos, a person asked Monalisa how she felt about becoming overnight famous on social media. In response, she expressed her frustration, complaining about how many people approach her for photographs, which disrupts her work. "Saare din bhar photo hi photo kheechte rehte hain. Din bhar photo khichwate hain, maala bhi nahi bechne dete," she says, meaning, "Everyone keeps coming to click photographs, they don't even let me sell neckpieces." Monalisa's frustration reflects the overwhelming attention she has been receiving since going viral.
Netizens have had mixed reactions to the viral videos of Monalisa, the garland seller from Mahakumbh. In one video, she is seen leaving the crowd when a man hints that he has brought a marigold garland for her, which further sparked online discussions.
One user commented, "Praying for her safety and protection because all the people, including the cameraman, don't know the difference between harassment and appreciation." Another user expressed concern, saying, "Bhai, it feels like you’re bothering her. This is Maha Kumbh, the most spiritual event in the last 144 years. Have you any awareness? You’re following her with a camera trying to persuade her into money and followers. Speak of holy things and respect her space."
Others criticized those filming her, with one comment stating, "She is beautiful indeed! But how shameful of people who are following her. More shameful for the @shivam_bikaneri_official reporter who instead of shaming people, is mentioning it as an achievement for her social profiles."
Some urged people to stop harassing her, with comments like, "Stop harassing her" and "This is not right, shame on you for making such a video in Mahakumbh Mela. Lord Shiva will not forgive you."
Another user remarked, "Kitna aasan hai to harass a woman in India... you can clearly see that she is not interested, and a few adult men are following her."
