"‘We are fighting the BJP, RSS, and the Indian state itself’: Rahul Gandhi criticizes Mohan Bhagwat."
"RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat stated that the date of the Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya should be celebrated as 'Pratishtha Dwadashi,' claiming it marked the 'true Independence' of India."
"Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Wednesday, accused the BJP and RSS of having 'captured every single institution' in the country. He also criticized RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat over his comments on India’s Independence, accusing him of committing treason.
On Monday, Bhagwat had stated that the date of the Ram Temple consecration in Ayodhya should be celebrated as 'Pratishtha Dwadashi,' claiming it marked the 'true Independence' of India, which had faced 'parachakra' (enemy attack) for centuries, and that this independence was established on that day."
"Speaking at the inauguration of Congress’s new headquarters in Delhi, Gandhi said, 'We are unveiling a new headquarters at a very significant moment. It is symbolic that, just yesterday, the chief of the RSS claimed that India never achieved Independence in 1947. He argued that true Independence was only attained when the Ram Mandir was built. This building is not just an ordinary structure. It has risen from the soil of our country, born out of the hard work and sacrifice of millions of people—sacrifice not just from the time of the freedom movement, but continuing to this very day.'"
"Gandhi stated that Bhagwat would have been charged with 'treason' for his remarks in any other country. He emphasized that the true outcome of the freedom movement was the Constitution, which Bhagwat had attacked by claiming that it was not the symbol of India's freedom."
"Addressing Congress leaders after the inauguration of the new building, Gandhi referenced Bhagwat’s remarks and argued that India is currently witnessing a clash between two conflicting visions—one represented by the Congress and the other by the RSS. 'We are now fighting the BJP, the RSS, and the Indian state itself,' said Gandhi.
'One vision sees India as a union of states. As we entered the building, I saw all the national languages equally displayed. There is no superior language, no inferior language, no superior culture, no inferior culture, no superior community, no inferior community—they are all the same. That is enshrined in the Constitution and symbolized by this building,' said Gandhi.
'On the other hand, there is the idea of centralized knowledge, a centralized understanding. Mohan Bhagwat has the audacity to tell the nation every few days what he thinks about the Independence movement and the Constitution. What he said yesterday is treason. By claiming that the Constitution is invalid and the struggle against the British was invalid, he has crossed a line. And he dares to say this publicly. In any other country, he would be arrested and tried. That’s a fact. To say India didn’t achieve Independence in 1947 is an insult to every single Indian. It’s high time we stop listening to this nonsense that these people think they can keep parroting, shouting, and screaming,’ he added."
"He said, 'The people in power today do not salute the tricolour, do not believe in the national flag, do not believe in the Constitution, and they have a completely different vision of India than we do.'"
