In the interview, Kangana claimed that she was initially offered Deepika Padukone's role in the film. She further stated that when she asked director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the script, he told her that the heroine’s role was insignificant. "He said the hero sees her in the mirror for the first time while she is getting ready," Kangana revealed, adding that Deepika's character in the film was mainly about "just dressing up the whole movie."
