Siliguri, 21st January: The Shristhishree Fair was inaugurated on Tuesday at Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri by Mayor Gautam Deb. The event was organized by the District Mission Management Unit.
Darjeeling District Magistrate Preeti Goyal, Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh of Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad, and several other dignitaries attended the inauguration. The fair will run until January 27.
The event features 75 stalls set up by women from self-help groups across various districts, showcasing their handmade products.
During the inauguration, Mayor Gautam Deb emphasized that the state government organizes such fairs to empower women and promote their economic self-reliance. He highlighted the vital role these initiatives play in supporting women’s financial independence.
