Mahindra XEV 9e & BE 6 to Feature Hybrid Powertrains with Modified INGLO Platform
INDIA – Mahindra is reportedly working on hybrid versions of its newly launched XEV 9e and BE 6 models, as part of its broader strategy to diversify powertrain options across its electric SUV lineup. Both models, originally designed as EVs, are expected to benefit from a re-engineered version of the INGLO platform, tailored specifically for hybrid applications.
INGLO Platform to Undergo Hybrid Transformation
The INGLO architecture, Mahindra’s modular platform introduced for its next-gen EV range, is believed to be undergoing substantial rework to accommodate hybrid technology. This move highlights Mahindra’s intent to tap into India’s growing hybrid vehicle market, which sits between traditional ICE vehicles and full electrics.
Sources suggest the company is adapting the platform to support parallel and series hybrid systems, enabling the new variants to offer improved efficiency and reduced emissions without the dependency on a charging network.
Expanding into the Hybrid Space
The Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 have already generated significant buzz in the EV segment due to their futuristic styling and tech-rich interiors. By introducing hybrid variants, Mahindra aims to appeal to a wider customer base, particularly those who are interested in cleaner mobility but aren’t fully ready to switch to electric vehicles.
The hybrid-powered XEV 9e and BE 6 are likely to launch within the next 12–18 months, aligning with Mahindra’s broader product roadmap and reflecting a balanced transition towards sustainable mobility.
